Prison Move Update
Well! THAT was an interesting two months! July 20th at 8:00 am I heard my name over the camp PA in Edgefield, South Carolina to come to the Prison Office which is seldom a good thing! When I got there they said “pack your property, you are going to ‘the hole’.” When I asked why I was being sent to “the hole,” they wouldn’t say. (Typical BOP policy and attitude! ).
I quickly said goodbye to some of my many friends I had made in my thirty-eight months there as I packed all my belongings in a duffel bag. By 9:00 am I was next door at the medium security prison headed for ‘the hole’ where I would spend the next seventeen days. One of the guards let me know that I was not in trouble but was being moved to a different camp. One of the BOP rules is that an inmate cannot be at the same facility with a staff member they knew on the street before coming to prison. One of the new staff members knew me as I had preached at his church. S-o-o-o-o-o, off I went.
I was placed in a room 8X12 with a sink, toilet, shower and bunk beds with a 34-year-old Venezuelan man named Alijandro. He had been at the camp with me for two years, but had never spoken to me even though I tried to speak to him. It turns out that one of the other Spanish inmates had started the lie that I had previously been in prison for child molesting! Wow! False rumors seemed to surround Christ and His disciples all the time too.
After being together a few days, praise God, Alijandro accepted Christ and the change in his life was dramatic! We read the Bible together a lot and prayed and talked and had great fellowship. During our seventeen days together in “the hole,” we only got outside of the cell three times. Each time was for one hour of “recreation” in a bigger cage. Regulations call for inmates to be out of “the hole” for one hour each day, but the guards always seem to have reasons they can’t do it that day.
After seventeen days, we were moved to the Atlanta Penitentiary Transfer Center where I would spend the next thirty-four days. Conditions are similar there but we got out more often. Alijandro was moved and still had fourteen months of his sentence. He would love to get mail, tracts (one per letter only) and recipes since he is a chef! His address is:
Alijandro Aguirre #59402-004
Oklahoma City Federal Transfer Center
P.O. Box 898801
Oklahoma City, OK 73189
After thirty-four days, I was put on a bus and taken four hours plus to Tallahassee, Florida for seven hours before being loaded back on the bus at 2:00 am to come three hours to Jesup, Georgia. The Jesup Prison Camp is much better than anyplace I have been so far! I am praying that they will let my wife visit me here. I have not seen her for three years! There are only about 150 men here, no fence, lots more to do, pool tables, weights, many movies, TV’s, much kinder, efficient staff, a real bed with springs, and plenty of food. I even get to touch real trees! I’ve only been able to do that two months out of the last four years! There are only about twenty-five active Christians here so I have a totally new mission field. I also get access to e-mail! It costs per minute to send email, but is still a great blessing. If you write to me here please include your e-mail address, and I will try to get you added to my email approval list.
I continue to file motions pro se, in hopes that I may be released. Last week I filed the first Writ of Mandamus with the Supreme Court that could overturn the case and set me free. The high court typically rules on these quickly, so I expect a ruling before the end of October. If this one does not work, I have nine more issues I want to bring to the court one at a time.
God has been so good to keep the ministry going! My kids and the CSE Team have stepped right up to the task and done a great job. They have produced some new and exciting materials to help you witness to your friends. See the brand new website for details.
We still get letters and calls every week telling of souls saved and lives changed. Thank you for helping us spread the creation message and evangelize the world! I get a lot of mail here that is s-o-o-o-o-o helpful and encouraging! Thanks! End times are upon us I think. Keep one eye on Israel and this pending treaty and the other eye on Daniel 9:27. Great time to win crowns!! Stay faithful!
