Ironic Things That Make Me Say, “Hmmm?”

July 4, 2011

I should write a book on Ironic Things that Make Me Say Hmmmm.

Isn’t it ironic that Casey Anthony is on trial for murdering her daughter, (and she should be) yet every day 4,500 mothers murder their babies by abortion and the laws of our land not only condone it but prosecute those who try to stop this evil? Hmmmm? God will be the final Judge.

Isn’t it ironic that America is “the land of the free,” yet we lock up about ten times more people per capita than just about every other country? America has 5% of the world’s population yet has 25% of the world’s prisoners. Crime needs to be punished but God’s Word never calls for prison. Hmmmm? Yathink there may be a bigger picture we need to look at?

Isn’t it ironic that when Congress tries to pass laws like HR 1475 to cut prison time to 65% for non-violent offenders, and HR 223 to cut time to 50% for first-time, non-violent offenders over age 45, that the biggest force OPPOSING these laws being passed is the same group that PROFITS the most from the prison system—the Justice Department, or the “Just Ice Department” and federal employees? Hmmmmm?

Isn’t it ironic that God created a perfect world, gave man freedom to choose and after man chose to sin, God still loved him? In spite of our sin, God still loves us and wants to use us to further His kingdom! Hmmmmm?

Isn’t it ironic that the most fun thing to do in the entire world, leading others to Christ, is the one least done by God’s children? Friday, as I led Eric to Christ here in the prison, the same joy flooded my soul that flooded it in the tent at the Heart of Illinois Fair in 1969 when I led my first soul to Jesus Christ. I don’t understand why so many of God’s children are more worried about who hits a ball into a hole in the dirt than if their neighbors go to Hell for eternity. Hmmmmm?

I hope you enjoy your freedom this Fourth of July! Please pray I can get mine back.

What on earth are you doing for Heaven’s sake? Hmmmmm?

Nice points in this blog, Doc…

It seems that some people want to pick everything you say apart, which amazes me, as clearly all you want to do is *help* people. The comment in this blog that I want to defend you on is where you mentioned God never mentioning imprisonment as a punishment for crimes. I’m sure that the anti-Hovind bunch will jump on this, saying that you only bring this up because of your current situation. I want to advise this bunch that you have been very outspoken about prisons not being biblical for many years.

Speaking of the anti-Hovind bunch, I’d like to address another issue… Personally, I like Kent Hovind, but if you don’t, you really should ask yourself why it is that you are so passionately against him. He is among the very small percentage of ministers who, in my opinion, does not sugar coat the word of God. You’re not always going to walk away from his teachings with a “warm fuzzy” feeling, but what you will walk away with is a greater knowledge of the word of God. Dr. Hovind says nothing that goes against what scripture teaches, as the Bible is clear in that although God truly does love us, he hates our sins, and we will be judged for them. God does command us to deny ourselves many pleasures, and although I do believe that he provides for us, our true reward for obeying his commands comes *after* we leave this life, thus requiring a great deal of faith as we grind ourselves through our time here. The Bible also clearly demonstrates that those who live a life for God, will have some very rough moments throughout their lives. However, the sacrifice that God made for us through his son, Jesus Christ, and the reward that awaits us after this life, makes all of the above seem like very little to ask of us. All of Dr. Hovind’s teachings that I have seen stay true to all of this. If your minister’s teachings never stir you up, more than likely he is not doing his job very well. So ask yourself, is it Dr. Hovind who you’re angry at, or is it what he represents? If it’s the latter, then you really should spend some time studying the Bible closely.

I could go on and on, but this isn’t my blog. Good to see you’re staying strong during this difficult time, Doc.

This is a perfect example of how mans laws cannot properly judge the thoughts and intents of the heart. They rest on visual proof that may not exist, even when the heart can discern the matter through her actions, its given for mans laws to fail here. The ten commandments in its letter would be enough to incriminate her for the murder. Not to mention the spirit of the commandments that say in at least she hated her daughter to death. It’s my belief if one places their hand on the bible and says an oath then by the word the person will be tried. She was never tried during that preceeding. The Lords wisdom would have shown the court room an image of hate, and mirror for the defence. Hatred in all forms is judgeable, and can be picked off to show motive and intent. He is also merciful, will he be merciful and convict her in her heart and mind, will he make an appeal to her heart, can we pray for that? I personally prayed that she would be spared and brought before Christ. Is this what the Lord requires; mercy and love from us? What will the Lord respond to in his will, what kind of prayer? Don’t be cought condemming her to death in your own hearts at the cost your sin and love to other sinners, for the Lord searches hearts. We know she is guilty, And this is a test on your judgement skills in the love of Christ. The judgement must be respected at another cost of your sin if its not. Don’t be caught with torches and pitchforks in your hearts or hands for the Lord may deliver her to your house for delivery to him!

Dr Hovind, HI! I have just got done watching all of your seminars (that I could find anyway) on youtube. When I became a Christian (about 3 years ago)one of the things I struggled with most was evolution, which is the ONLY thing I was taught (and it was taught as FACT, not THEORY) in school. I was always taught that anyone who disbelieved evolution was deluded or just plain dumb. You have proved that THEY are the ones lacking in logic and reason, and I am SOOO thankful I stumbled across your lectures! Thanks a million, and I’m praying for you and your family:)
And you are sooooo right. I have commented on this irony about this case myself lately. Its not right! If she had killed that baby 30 or so months earlier most wouldn’t have blinked an eye, and yet this is all people are talking about. I am so sad for that baby, and the thousands thrown away every day while my husband and I pray for a blessing of our own. I just don’t understand this world we live in!
Anyway, I’ll be following your blog now that I have found it, keep harvesting for the Lord! God Bless!!

I want to say thank you for posting your lectures. You made some difficult concepts accessible and presented your work in an amusing and enjoyable way. You helped me to eliminate errors I had subconsciously accepted in university; without me being aware of it the theory had eroded my faith. Your information gave my faith a solid foundation as I realised that God’s Word is infallibe. THANK YOU!
