A “Science Guy” Against Science?

Written September 1, 2012

This rebuttal is my response to an article written on Bill Nye, the Science Guy. I have responded paragraph by paragraph to Mr. Hallowell’s article on Mr. Nye.

Billy Hallowell, “Scientist Bill Nye Hammers Creationists: Evolution-Deniers ‘Hold Everybody Back,‘ Harm Children’s Education & Hold Views That Will Eventually Be Extinct,” The Blaze, August 27, 2012.

Bill Nye was once beloved for being America s brightest and most energetic “science guy.” However, the former children s show host (“Bill Nye the Science Guy” aired from 1993 until 1998) is entering more contentious ground of late, as he recently jumped into the political realm to intensely support President Barack Obama s re-election campaign.

The adjectives used by some to describe Bill Nye include bright and energetic. History records lots of people who were “bright” and “energetic” but were WRONG. Hmmm? Let’s see: Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, Mao, Voltaire, Osama bin Laden to name a FEW who were zealous for the wrong cause. Let’s remember that “bright and energetic” does NOT = right!

But, politics isn’t his only area of interest these days. Last week, the famed scientist lashed out against champions of creationism. In a new video for Big Think, an online educational forum, Nye claims that evolution deniers are damaging children and harming scientific progress.

“Evolution deniers?” Do ya see any prejudice in THAT statement? Before we can decide if we “deny” evolution, we need to understand the terms. Bill needs to define the word evolution first in order for folks to know if they want to “deny” it or not! I have been through this important define-the-terms step in all 100 debates I did with evolutionists at various universities as well as thousands of Q&A sessions. I encourage students and teachers everywhere to carefully define the word evolution BEFORE they enter into a discussion on evolution, so everyone knows what they are discussing. It is futile to proceed until the terms are defined. The problem (intentional?) is that the word “evolution” actually has six meanings or levels or stages:

  1. Cosmic evolution: the origin of time/space/matter from nothing in the supposed “Big Bang”
  2. Chemical evolution: all the elements “evolved” from hydrogen
  3. Stellar evolution: stars formed from dust clouds
  4. Organic evolution: life formed from non-living matter
  5. Macro-evolution: plants and animals produce offspring different than their ‘kind’
  6. Micro-evolution: variations develop within the kind such as big dogs and little dogs; bacteria becoming resistant to drugs; etc.

Only ONE of these definitions for evolution is true SCIENCE—Number 6. The first five are part of a RELIGION that adherents must “believe” in since they have NEVER been observed or demonstrated. Bill is guilty of mixing these definitions indiscriminately. He (along with many science books) sees and shows lots of evidence for definition #6 with which I agree, but then ASSUMES that this is evidence for the first five. That is NOT good science, Bill! The variations we all observe and that every farmer on planet earth understands and uses does NOT offer ANY evidence for the first five definitions of evolution.

Of course, Bill is welcome to BELIEVE the first five definitions, but he should be honest and stop trying to deceive people into thinking they are also part of science. Only #6, micro-evolution can be observed and demonstrated, the criteria for provable science. Creationists do NOT “deny” that there is evidence for evolution definition #6, but we DO deny there is any “scientific” evidence for the first five. Bill should plainly and honestly admit his use of the word evolution is religious. He is free to promulgate his religious views on his own dime, but he should not be allowed to use tax payer money to teach his mixed definitions of evolution as science in tax funded programs. Bill is the one who is “damaging children” and “harming the scientific process” when he confuses the terms and evidence!

The video, which was posted last Thursday, has already been viewed more than one million times. Entitled, “Creationism Is Not Appropriate for Children,” the clip holds little back when it comes to the scientist’s views on evolutionary denial. In the video, Nye takes particular issue with the fact that America is the only nation in which creationism is so widely embraced.

Millions of copies of our Creation Seminar Series are circling the globe in over 30 languages (see: www.creationtoday.org) so Bill needs to get busy! Bill is the one in denial. The evidence for a Designer is OVERWHELMING at ALL levels through the microscope or telescope. The verse in 2 Peter 3:15 describes it perfectly—”willingly ignorant…”! Does Bill need to light a candle to see the sun?

“Denial of evolution is unique to the United States,” he said. “People still move to the United States. And that’s largely because of the intellectual capital we have, the general understanding of science.”

Beer is often sold at football games. Beer has NOTHING to do with football and beer does NOT ever produce better athletes by frequent association with football. It is true that the evolution religion is unfortunately often mixed with science books, but it will never become science by virtue of frequent association with real science. Evolution needs to be taught in a RELIGION class at school or maybe an “ancient mythology” class, but NOT in a SCIENCE class.

His qualms with individuals who don t embrace the notion that human beings evolved goes well beyond mere theological and scientific disagreement. Nye believes that those who tout creationism are actually doing damage to scientific progression.

All through history there have been FALSE notions that hindered or damaged scientific advancement. For instance, the geocentric theory made it very hard to advance astronomy. Today, evolution is one of the greatest hindrances to the advancement of science. See the video “Expelled” with Ben Stein for many examples.

“When you have a portion of the population that doesn’t believe in that, it holds everybody back, really,” he said, going on to say that it’s difficult to make sense of life and to attain the proper answers if one denies the scientific theory. “Evolution is the fundamental idea in all of life science — in all of biology.”

This is a crazy statement for an otherwise intelligent man to make! It was the belief in creation and design in nature that was the driving force behind the founding and advancement of EVERY branch of science over the last 400 years. It is the religion of evolution that is the obstacle today. DESIGN is the fundamental idea in all of science—NOT evolution! The evolution theory has done nothing in the advancement of science. Revelation 12:9 says Satan “deceiveth the whole world.” You have been deceived, Bill. Open your eyes before it is t-o-o-o-o-o late!

Bill’s statement, “Evolution is the fundamental idea in all of life science and all of biology” is not only unprovable and wrong, it is standard dogma for his followers. I have often said that even if evolution, as in the first five definitions, were true, it has NOTHING to do with any real practical science. In addition to being harmful to the advancement of science, evolution is a USELESS theory!

Nye went on to plead with parents — even those who “deny evolution” and live in a “world that’s completely inconsistent with everything we observe in the universe” — to properly educate their children.

I agree! Parents need to “properly educate their children.” This would include teaching them the truth about evolution in order to prepare them to face the zealots who peddle their evolution religion under the guise of science. Part Four of The Creation Seminar entitled, “Lies in the Textbooks,” and my books: Help! I’m Being Taught Evolution in my Earth Science Class!, and, Help! I’m Being Taught Evolution in my Biology Class! would be a great start for curriculum!

“We need scientifically literate voters and taxpayers for the future. We need people that can — we need engineers that can build stuff, solve problems,” he added.

“We need scientifically literate voters and taxpayers in the future.” Hmmm? Are these Bill’s code words to say that anyone who does NOT fall for his religion should NOT be allowed to vote, should not be allowed to earn a living, or maybe even, not allowed to live on planet earth? What engineer uses any of the ideas of the evolution religion in his work, Bill?

“In another couple centuries that worldview, I’m sure just won’t exist,” Nye concluded. “There’s no evidence for it.”

Future? I think it was Voltaire who said something similar. He said that in the future, no one would believe the Bible. Sometime after that Voltaire’s house was used to store Bibles to ship to missionaries! Nietzsche said, “God is dead!” Hmmm? I think God would say, “Nietzsche is dead!”

As noted, Nye has been speaking out fervently for President Obama’s re-election campaign and, as Inquisitr has noted, he’s been stumping for him.

Isn’t it revealing that a guy who believes he came from a rock and that there are therefore no moral absolutes would be for Obama? What morals does a rock, or more recently, a monkey, have? Hmmm? Makes ya think about this election! Truly the god of this world, Satan, has blinded the minds of many. Second Corinthians 4:4 says, “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”

Proverbs 28:2 also gives us a timely warning: “For the transgression of the land, many are the princes thereof.” We have LOTS of politicians and government bureaucrats telling us how to run our lives in every detail because we are a wicked nation! God is giving us what we DESERVE not what we WANT. America has SERIOUS problems that will NOT be fixed by this (or any) election. I think 2 Chronicles 7:14 is the ONLY fix for this problem! Read that verse carefully! God is waiting for HIS people to do right.

Remember Stalin said, “He who votes is not important. He who counts the votes is important!”

When I am released, my offer still stands. I will debate any ten evolutionists, including Bill Nye, at any time on three simple conditions:

  1. The Creationist side gets half the time.
  2. We talk about one topic at a time.
  3. Either side can video the debate and distribute it, unedited, except for adding in visuals or PowerPoint slides.

I would love to see Bill’s (or anyone else’s) best evidences for any of the first five definitions of evolution. Looks to me like anyone with one eye and half a brain can see that “God created the Heaven and the earth.”

BTW, world events s-u-u-u-r-e make ya think we are getting close to the end just as the Bible predicted. Meanwhile — WIN SOULS!

See ya at the finish line!

Dear Mr. Hovind, I have only in the last two weeks discovered your wonderful dvd’s. My husband and I were greatly saddened that you were imprisoned and unduly. You are on our hearts and will never be forgotten by us. We learned so much. And are grateful to your dedication to the truth. We are in very perilous times. I for one will sign the petition to free you. God bless you for the stand you take and may He free you soon. You are a true and good brave man. Unfortunately it is men like you who they will do all they can to shut you up. The Truth will shut them down one day. God is The Truth, The Light and The Way. He is also Faithful and He will never forsake you. You are in my prayers this night. May God have mercy on their souls. May God let His Countenance shine on you always….May you sleep well this night….Our Hope is to see you before August, 2015.

I can not agree with your more. I am a South African and an admirar of Kent Hovind as person and for what he is doing. It is good to see his son Eric is continuing with the ministry with the same passion. i have seen his dvds on vreation about 5 years ago and that opened my eyes. I wish the whole world could see it!The difference between USA and Africa is strange- here a person of fame (like our beloved president) can rape and be involved in corruption etc but be protected form a (failed) justice system. There a man doing good is inprisoned. Even if the non payment of the taxes was an offence accordning to a court at that time then, why such a harsh sentence for a man of love and peace preaching the gospel ? It is ridiculous.
Let us continue our prayers for him, God surely has a plan with him.

Dr. Hovind – thanks so much for your dedication to the cause of Biblical creation! I’ve thought, ever since this controversy began, that all any Bill Nye type has to do, instead of resorting to ad hominem attacks, is to debate a creation scientist and present their best case for evolution. Then, let the viewer decide who has the stronger argument. They would rather just call names and appeal to fear. Sad what passes for debate these days!

Still praying for you Kent! It was very nice to meet your son Eric, your wife, and many more members of your family when my wife and I went to visit Dinosaur Adventure Land in Pensacola. We were dismayed to see that it was in a state of “all but demolished” due to the silly tax debacle. We really hadn’t thought of any other plans of where to stay, where to go, or anything else for that matter. Our course was to see Dinosaur Adventure Land! God spoke through your son Eric that night and invited us to stay in a guest lodging on the property grounds that to us was more lavish than a 5 star hotel! We had a great time with the bon fire and marshmallow roasting. Got some pictures too! Keep winning more souls for Christ and His Gospel! My family and I are eternally grateful and God knows our petitions. Thank you again for being a human inspiration created by God, to obey God, and love other people!

Hannes, the verse is 2 Peter 3:5 instead of 3:15. The King James Version has the exact words “they willingly are ignorant of”; other versions have different wording.

About 10 verses back is what Kent was considering, I think: 2 Peter 3:5

“For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water…”

The Word of God created everything.

Brother Kent, you make excellent points and you have taught me many new things. How ironic it is that Voltaire’s house was used to store bibles. We have a just God!

Bill Nye could be called the “religious guy” since he talks about his religious belief in Evolution, and not about true science. True science is: observable, repeatable, testable, and falsifiable. Evolution does not pass any of these scientific tests, except the example #6 you provided, which I would call adaptation or breeding.

Here is what I think is true evolution: Jews that believed in God evolved into Christians when Jesus died on the cross and poured his spirit over the land. Jews evolved into Christians. The people today that call themselves Jews should evolve into Christians. (If they believed in God, they would also believe in Jesus Christ and take his surname.)

I pray good things for you, Kent, when you are on my mind! Peace to everyone.

Biological evolution, of which Bill Nye was referring, DOES NOT explain the origin of the universe (cosmology)or life (abiogenesis) or how the chemicals evolved (However, that is explained in a number of places, I suggest the series “How the Universe Works”) Evolution describes only how life evolved since it began, of which there is a plethora of information. And to dispel your straw man argument, NONE of these things are religions, that would imply that they are based on faith alone, which is not how science works.

Great Reply, my name is Tyler Baker 22 yrs old, I was born and raised in No. Ky, directly across the bridge from Downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. Raised in a strong Christian home attented a Christian school k-12, and went to a small Independent Baptist KJV Church my entire life. I had about 7 or 8 yrs as a wayward child (Luke 15:-32). In 2001 I accepted Jesus as my saviour but I didn’t live the way a witness should, this past spring in 2012 I publicly rededicated my life to the Lord and I don’t want to do anything other than live for Him (2 Corinthians 5:17). In May I ran across one of your seminars on youtube (100 reasons why evolution is stupid) and have been interested in the topic since, I have ordered and read multiple books on the various topics. I always had a hesitance in learning about the evolutionary theory just in case of hindering my faith. After I watched your video I felt more comfortable. So I started scrutinizing the subject and found out what a JOKE it is. Im shortly going to be starting a Bible School of Dr. Ruckmans was wondering when your getting out and a launch date of classes?

The primary reason I wrote was to thank you.The passion you had in your ministry helped me to keep my zeal daily. Never would have guessed when I fell into a life of partying and alcohol that the whole time my Father was waiting with a robe and ring already embedded with my initials, I just had to come back home.

I have seen many of your videos on the net with your six definitions of evolution. I will give you this, no one has witnessed the Big Bang, this is true and no one has lived long enough to witness something like dinosaurs evolving into chickens. However we can look around and see various species at different stages in the process of diverging into two new species. The steps being that two populations become genetically isolated and develop genetic differences as selected for by their respective environments. Now this may manifest in differences in size or something small (#6). Now at this point allow the two to bread and you will get a mix that can reproduce. Isolate them further and allow small changes to occur and eventually if the two meet, they may breed and produce a hybrid but the hybrid will be sterile ie horse + donkey = mule. Isolate them further and allow for more change and eventually the two will not be able to interbreed at all. This would be the final step in a speciation event (try to breed a monkey and a gorilla). This would be what we can look for today and we do see this in closely related species today (evidence of #5).

Now you also talk about “chemical evolution” (#2). This is nothing more than nuclear fusion and was first accomplished in the hydrogen bomb. Now as you know it is energetically favorable to fuse elements up to iron. That is to say that fusion of elements lighter than iron release energy. How do we get all the heavier elements? Well as stars fuse hydrogen into helium and eventually lithium beryllium and so on up to iron, large stars fuse heavier elements when they go supernova. Unless the elements are heavier than uranium in which case man creates those elements ourselves because what you call chemical evolution (#2) is not only real, but we observe it and control it. This is also how we make the various radio isotopes for contrast dyes in MRI’s and other radiation medicine.

Scientists are getting close to life from non-life. Experiments are being done to create something living from non-living things. Also as our understanding of biology grows, the line between living and non-living is blurred. You are aware that a vaccine is produced from a “dead” or weakened virus, however a virus lacks the ability to reproduce without a host (you and my). Being able to self replicate is a staple of being alive. Of course this is not the only mark of life. So the virus isn’t life, at least life as what the average person considers to be life.

Your number three is stated incorrectly. The theory says stars come from gas clouds not dust clouds. Gas clouds come together under the pull of gravity and eventually the pressure generates enough heat to turn the ball of gas into plasma (which we make in the lab all the time) the pressure and heat continues to climb until eventually we have sustained thermal nuclear fusion. This has also been achieved on a small scale in controlled experiments and sustained for various periods of time. The youngest person to do this in recent years was a 14 year old by the name of Taylor Wilson.

Well I have given examples of what we have observed to support and/or what has been done to prove 4 of the 5 definitions you give for evolution that you say can’t happen (the 6th you say does). I know this debate between young earth creation and science has gotten ugly at times, I mean you just likened Bill Nye to Hitler. Why escalate it? Why not keep it civil? If you want to draw people to your cause be civil, be kind you will get better results.

    Best Regards,

Hi Mr. Hovind, I saw your video on youtube, and I must say, that you hasn’t right. I’m not supporter of evolution theory, I’m not atheist, but the Holy Bible is a big lie. Every religions, who said, that the men is guilty, is liar. My opinion is, that those “barbarian” culture, which were destroyed by christian monks, were the real religions. This is just my opinion.

Sorry….I posted before I finished what I was trying to say…Anyway, I ended up being offered a position in our church as an intern youth pastor and was able to help many Jr. High and High School students with their doubts by using your material that I purchased. What a blessing it was. Just last year I was in Belgrade (Serbia) speaking to the head of the astrophysics program at their University. I was surprised at how open she was to hear my thoughts about creation. Her boyfriend is a very prominent astronomer and head of the department that tries to locate potentially dangerous asteroids that might come close to Earth. He was just as open an friendly when it came to my beliefs about the age of the Earth. I felt as if I was speaking to true scientists whom let the facts speak for themselves. They both didn’t deny a creator and mentioned that evolution was a faulty theory. I was curious if you have ever studied the phenomenon of sonoluminescence? It seems interesting to me that God said (sound) “Let there be light”. When sound is amplified under water enough, it turns to light which creates a bubble. Inside that bubble is a near perfect vacuum. I wonder if there is another layer of water outside the universe because the bible has some verses that elude to that. What are your thoughts? I pray for you often, and hope God continues to give you strength and boldness. God bless brother!

Something I have been wondering about. When debating with Old Earth Creationist it never seems to come up that On the sixth day he created Adam and then proceeds to tell us exactly how many years he lived. It would seem to me that this is the best evidence that Either God did it in six literal days or he is truly a God that lies to us.

Praying for you brother Hovind, I hope you are doing well. I know god is using you to witness to people who need it, and i know he is using this time of captivity to the benefit of the body of christ, but Mr.Hovind. it’s so hard out here contending for the truth, it’s so tough preaching the gospel, it’s so hard to combat the evil thats in the world. You are exactly where The lord means for you to be now, but i pray that you won’t be gone too long. We need people like you who are strong in the lord to guide people to the truth. I count your imprisonment as a great loss to all of us out here. Nevertheless, we have your resources and material, and your hard work is a blessing to me in preaching the word of God. theres just so much suffering going on With false doctrines and false prophets and lies leading people away from True faith in jesus christ. Being a young man 21 years old, i know that things will continue to wax worse and worse in my lifetime. One day people may rely on me to teach the words of god, thanks to you, i am more prepared for that day. it just hurts me so much to see you suffering, after you’ve taken away so much suffering and confusion from the body of christ. Thank you for your diligent work in standing up for the truth.

I actually was considering responding to Nye’s recent statements, because part of them seemed ridiculous. But not for any of the reasons Dr. Hovind points out.

KH: ““Evolution deniers?” Do ya see any prejudice in THAT statement?”

No. Are you not an evolution denier? I suppose the prejudice might be that it implies deniers don’t believe in microevolution–but few people who discuss these matters are unaware that it’s macroevolution that is where the conflict lies.

KH: “Before we can decide if we “deny” evolution, we need to understand the terms.”

The reason most people don’t do this is because nearly everyone, scientist and non-, understands “evolution” to refer to what Dr. Hovind would call micro- and macro-evolution. While it is true one can refer to “chemical evolution” when they mean nucleosynthesis or abiogenesis, and “stellar evolution,” et al., most when hearing an unmodified “evolution” assume the topic is biological evolution—for example, if you search Wikipedia for evolution, you get directed to the biological evolution page, not the stellar or cosmic evolution pages.

So this is all a strawman. Nearly everybody knows what Nye is referring to, and so does Hovind.

KH: “The problem (intentional?) is that the word “evolution” actually has six meanings or levels or stages…”

We needn’t hint at wicked designs (“intentional?”) to explain a simple disagreement on terminology.

KH: “Only ONE of these definitions for evolution is true SCIENCE—Number 6. The first five are part of a RELIGION that adherents must “believe” in since they have NEVER been observed or demonstrated.”

I challenge Hovind to show that science requires present day observability. It sounds like nonsense. Few scientists, if any, have problems deriving knowledge from the evidence of past events—even if those events are not currently happening. We’ve never seen Pluto orbit the sun, as it takes 248 years to do so. Is it thus unscientific to say Pluto has gone around the sun before? If we find a crater on the moon, is it unscientific to say something hit the moon? We’ve never observed a wooly mammoth walk—does it follow it’s unscientific to say wooly mammoths could, indeed, walk? Nobody ever observed a vapor canopy prior to the Flood? Is that unscientific?

I submit any description of science that rules out this sort of knowledge is far too narrow, and one few scientists would agree with. Popper, whose definition of science seems to be the most widely adhered to, eventually decided evolution was scientific. (Not to say I agree with Popper, but it seems a good jumping off point.)

KH: “Bill is guilty of mixing these definitions indiscriminately.”

It’s a shame Hovind provides no quotes to justify this charge.

KH: “He (along with many science books) sees and shows lots of evidence for definition #6 with which I agree, but then ASSUMES that this is evidence for the first five.”

Again, it’s a pity no quotes are provided to justify this.

KH: “See the video “Expelled” with Ben Stein for many examples.”

    9% at Rotten Tomatoes, incidentally.

KH: “It was the belief in creation and design in nature that was the driving force behind the founding and advancement of EVERY branch of science over the last 400 years.”

Perhaps. But, as a wise man once said, “Beer is often sold at football games. Beer has NOTHING to do with football and beer does NOT ever produce better athletes by frequent association with football. It is true that the “belief in creation and design in nature” was once unfortunately often mixed with science, but it did not become science by virtue of frequent association.”

Many Greeks did science on the supposition that many gods were ordering the physical world—it does not follow it’s desirable to believe in the Greek gods today.

KH: “In addition to being harmful to the advancement of science, evolution is a USELESS theory!”

The worth of science has never been defined as what it can give to us. Even were evolution pointless when it comes to, say, producing a new iPhone, it could still be plenty useful in terms of discovering what occurred in the past. After all, this is why we have the field of history.

KH: “We need scientifically literate voters and taxpayers in the future.” Hmmm? Are these Bill’s code words to say that anyone who does NOT fall for his religion should NOT be allowed to vote, should not be allowed to earn a living, or maybe even, not allowed to live on planet earth?”

No, that’s a grossly unfair interpretation of Nye’s position, and any fair reader sees as much. Expressing a wish for better educated voters and taxpayers is not tantamount to wanting to deny some votes, jobs, or their lives. It might be that Nye’s got a jonesing for genocide—but one should offer at least a bit of charity in interpreting a person’s words.

KH: “I think it was Voltaire who said something similar. He said that in the future, no one would believe the Bible. Sometime after that Voltaire’s house was used to store Bibles to ship to missionaries!”

Wikipedia lists this as apocryphal. I can find no evidence for either the statement of Voltaire or the ownership of his house. I would be interested if anyone has any hard evidence for this claim.

KH: “Isn’t it revealing that a guy who believes he came from a rock and that there are therefore no moral absolutes would be for Obama?”

William Lane Craig did an excellent debate with Shelly Kagan on whether or not morality must come from God, which I recommend. It’s widely viewed as the only debate Craig has lost.

It’s far from clear that morality necessitates theism—there is no apparent logical contradiction between atheism and moral realism, after all. So it simply doesn’t follow that Nye’s belief in abiogenesis necessitates him being a moral relativist. He might be, for all I know, but it’s not something to be deduced from his statements here.

“What morals does a rock, or more recently, a monkey, have?”

I see no relevance of the morality of a monkey, since humans are neither monkeys nor descended from them, but I take it the notion that men ultimately came from nonliving matter, which is amoral, means that men themselves have no morals. But that doesn’t follow at all. Simply because something’s source has one property does not mean that what comes from it will have the same property. It would be like the following inference:

    Mary’s parents are brown-haired.
    Mary descends from her parents.
    Therefore Mary is brown-haired.

Mary’s parents are not US citizens.
    Mary descends from her parents.
Therefore Mary is not a US citizen.

    It simply doesn’t follow.

I would love to see a Hovind-Nye debate. My money would be on Hovind.

I get a kick out of the professor poking fun at Christianity, followed by a 2 minute explanation of why a layer of earth is just “missing”. Then he began to bait other Christians in class by talking about Mt. Ararat.. but oh well.. I take the ridicule gladly..

Whenever someone uses the term “evolution deniers” they are trying to associate it in the people minds with “holocaust deniers”. Dirty tactics…

Kent you are an inspiration to so many, and myself! I used to love watching your videos and still believe in Creationism. My concern is for those who devote so much time in this battle of showing Evolution a fraud. Yet know time defining the Written/Spoken Words of Yhwh. For instance, christianity and jesus. We know in the Laws the commands start with I am Yhwh your Elohim, also in the simple commands He says don’t say my Name wrong/change it or missuse, have no other gods before Me, and no grave image. The Messiah never broke the Laws of Yhwh, nor would He have people walk in error. This is why we are to have His Spirit, to guide and convict us to not walk in sin(break His Law). Christianity breaks Yhwhs Laws. Christianity is a false religion. Christianity was not the Faith of the Prophets nor the disciples or the Messiah! Turn inward christians w/ zeal to study the facts of your faith. 1John2 we see that those who truely Love Yhwh will walk/obey His commands. His Name is Yhwh(YahooAh) and His Son is Yahushua. Jesus is a counterfiet, and all the christian religion is false. Not some. All! Isa43v10-11. Again He is called Yahushua. If you believe u r saved then u should at least know His Name! Next step, u should examine yourselves to see your traditions are actually sin and repent. Start obeying His commands and studying them from the perspective of how He said/wrote His Word so u can obey n be saved. Faith never will stand alone! Even shatan has faith in Yhwh. So works of obeying is also a completion to having Faith. Until then christians; u are w/out Grace and Yhwh’s Spirit. U have been lied to about BIGGER subjects than Evolution. May u understand, and may Yhwh’s countance shine on you! Get out of the Pagan religion of christianity!

I disagree with your attacking the evolutionists for using tax dollars to present religious ideas on evolution. However, the real violation to the US Constitution is making the atheistic religious views a “state religion”. Atheism is currently the State Religion. Therefore, perhaps a better argument would be that if the religious views of evolution are permitted to be taught, then also other religious views including mine and yours, or such as the views of Creationists, should be permitted and included equal time and space in the education curriculum–mandated by law. Otherwise, Atheism is the One State Religion and it violates our religious freedoms in this country.

I think your odds of success are increased by changing your approach. The likelihood of the State Religion being removed from the schools is remote. However, arguing Creationists or any other religious views should be given equal space in the text books side by side is a stronger argument in my opinion. Don’t you agree? See? Your view is that we should outlaw all religious beliefs, which contracticts the heart of our country. I realize the country mistinterpretted the Constitution by separating “church and state” later, but that is the error. Such a notion was never intended by the founders of our country, since our public halls include the 10 commandments. It’s the State favoring one religion over another that is and was the cardinal sin–which the Atheists have done. Think about it. They are no different than the King of England pushing his religious agenda on the people.

  59. Greg Olson October 9, 2012 5:22 am Reply

Furthermore, since evolution is not defined as a religion, your theme park with dinasours and so forth has not been defined as “religious” either, and therefore, you have been incarcerated unjustly. If the Supreme Court ever rules that parts of evolution are religious and based on faith as you succincty point out, your position is much stronger. This country would be so much better off if everyone just respected each others beliefs, whatever they are, and quite trying to prove the unprobable. We need to recognize a belief is something we choose to believe, whatever it is, when there is no eye-witness evidence to prove it.

    Dear Pastor Hovind,

I hope that you read these comments.

I have been reading about your case a lot and praying for you. I am not a lawyer, and this is not legal advice, just a lay person’s reading of things.

Your arguments might be standing, jurisdiction, and improper jury instructions. It looks like most of your charges are essentially for rules that should have been followed by the bank (not the customer). If you have access to the Statutes at Large, look up the original act of Congress that created that code. These laws will sometimes be spread over several acts / bills of Congress. They will put a piece of it in this bill, a piece of it in that bill, etc. A lot of what I was looking at was buried in a Community Improvement act. Don’t get confused when you look up the Act and think you are looking at the wrong thing. You will have to piece the law together from the different acts of Congress. One will create the law then another act will modify it, add provisions, etc.

I also noticed that it said that the Treasury published a list of people who were exempt from the requirements of this particular act. I would want to get a copy of that list for the year that they charged you. See if churches are listed as exempt.

Another thing you need to do is get a copy of whatever you signed at the bank. They probably had you sign something when you opened the account that said you were a “US Person” and you agreed to abide by treasury regulations. Well, that is fine but if the regulations are for the Bank to fill out the report then they don’t apply to you.

It is like trying to apply a french law to me. Sir the law in France says that you cannot wear sunglasses in public in France. That law does not apply to me because I am not a Frenchman (not sure if this is jurisdiction or standing?). Sir, the law says that bankers have to fill out this CTR when someone withdraws X amount of money. That law does not apply to me because I am not a banker!

This is from one of their own books.

General Provisions of Treasury Regulations, 31 CFR Part 103 Regulations Section(s) (a) 103.22, 103.25(a) and 103.26 When any person engages in a currency transaction of more than $10,000 with a financial institution, the financial institution must report the identity of the person or persons involved and file a report on a Currency Transaction Report, Form 4789, contaning certain details of the transaction within 15 days.

Notice it says the duty is to the financial instutition, not the person!

I am still reading. Can you write a letter to the judges? The bar association? I cannot believe that you have been in there all this time. I am so sad for my country that this could happen.

Try to find a copy of the Statutes at Large for the year the law was passed. Sometimes, the original act of Congress will contain things (*I think) that do not make it into the ‘code’ that the law enforcement and the attorneys look at. From what I have read, the original Act of Congress has the most authority. Just introduce it into the record at any hearing. Learn to say “For the record”.

I will keep praying for you and reading about this.

  62. RR October 9, 2012 8:14 pm Reply

Wanted to say one other thing, you will be looking at something like Public Law 101-xx.

The 101 would mean the 101st session of Congress. I noticed the other day that they are now passing things that directly modify the “CODE”, not the prior acts of Congress. It gets really confusing but you can piece it together. When you do, you will find that some of the laws actually can really protect you but that part is buried and does not always get “Codified”.

Once again, this is not legal advice, but hopefully, it will help either you or a real lawyer to find some way to get you out of there so you can see your Grandkids.

God in His great mercy brought us out and saved us for real! This is now our first year homeschooling and you have been such a great help! I just wanted you to know that you are the one God used to further His glorious Gospel! Stay strong our precious brother In Christ.. We are praying for you!

I see that my comment which challenged Dr. Hovind on several points has not been posted.

For my own edification, was there something unduly ad hominen in what I wrote? Or is all criticism of Dr. Hovind’s ideas simply proscribed as a rule here? If the latter, how serious should we take the ideas expoused here, if they’re (apparently) too fragile to face a friendly critique?

Hello. I am homeschooling mom to seven children. Our family has been enjoying your creation series on DVD for many years now. A few years ago, my husband told me that he had heard you were in jail. We were all shocked and saddened. Immediately, I went online to look it up and found out for sure that you are. My children all sat and drew pictures and wrote letters for you but we aren’t sure if you ever got them. We recently purchased some books and some debates from the new website. We loved the debates. I just wanted to write and tell you that we love your shows, we can’t wait for you to get out of prison and my son, who loves science, especially loves watching your shows. He is almost 17 and wants to be a missionary.

Dr Hovind, I want to thank you for your dedication to Creation Science. It has really turned my life around because at school they teach evolution and you tend to believe it cause after all it’s school ya know. They make sound so “fascinating” and I was quite good at it, which just means I was good at being stupid lol. So that means the better you are at evolution the more stupid you are. Guess the high biology mark was all for nothing. May The Lord bless you dearly Dr Hovind for all that you’ve done and all that your family continually do.

    Dear Mr. Hovind,
Yesterday I dated rocks to about to a billion years or something in my public school science class, and I am so happy that I will have the opportunity to write, “the textbook says, so and so, however, this is not correct.” I admire your intelligence, and your dedication, and the ease that you have when owning evolutionists, and educating. You have truly impacted my life.
    God bless.

Beautiful letter – and with such confidence! Go Dr Hovind!

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” [Hebrews 12:1-3, NIV]

Just wanted to comment that I think you are wrong when you say Win Souls. While I agree with your principles. We are not responsible for the fate of anothers soul. We do what we are commanded and be faithful but it’s God’s job to win them. Jer 23;28-29

Dear Friend, Dear Brother, I hope you will read this Mr. Hovind. I feel as though you are a friend, I respect you so greatly!!!!! I have watched your videos several times. I think of you often, I pray for you. I so appreciate you Mr. Hovind. I Love Genesis and of course I Know the Truth, I wonder If you have access to a series called “Origins”? Can be viewed on youtube. As of today there are 62 1/2 hour discussions taped each highlighting PHD’s in various areas of science that demonstrate we and all that exists were created, and not long ago… 1000’s not more, no way, and could not happen. ‘In the beginning God created”. As I’m typing this, I listening to a study in Genesis…I simply love it very very much.
I’d sure hope we meet one day and I also appreciate your son Eric’s material, he is also very admirable. I cannot thank you enough, it is not possible but I will. Thank you so much Mr. Hovind, and God bless you. I will call you my friend Sir, regards. Andrew

    @ Gerard in Johannesburg

I had high marks in school from youth through college as a Biology major and was a believer in Creation. I doubt that anybody would want you to think that hard work was for nothing or that it is a gauge of how stupid you are. You excelled at what was presented to you and apparently it left you wanting. This is not stupidity but God revealing himself through the lies. You were able to operate just fine because most of the stuff they had you prove is actual science it is just when you had to recite theory back that you may have erred. But that is what often happens when people tout theory, like the Theory of Evolution, they err.

In many debates with friends and even professors that I have had over the years over this topic. Hovind’s expression of the 6 types of evolution and in particular the difference between Macro and Micro has turned away argument more than anything else. Making that clarification early has made a conversation possible and has made many finally open up. A person is not dumb, but they will resist being put down or belittled and so to come at things from common ground is usually the best way.

Thank you Dr. Hovind for your work it has helped me for close to 20 years now.

I would absolutely love to see you come to Kamloops B.C sometime.I have one question to ask you.Is it in your opinion that when a fish is born and it goes out to the ocean and then comes back into fresh water to spawn that the longer it was exposed to fresh water as a fry the longer it takes to get spawed out and die ? Thank-you very much as I am watching all of your videos and hope that you get out sooner than later. I am dedicated to your teachings and will encourage people who beleive in evolution to watch your videos. They are an awesome tool from God to you to everyone. My Email is- [email protected]

Thank you Mr. Hovind for all you have done to bring the truth about a young earth and creation to us and make everything so clear. My son loves your videos also and told me “he is so funny!” We were both highly entertained and informed at the same time. Looking forward to the time when you can enter into more debates and hoping you come to our area so we can attend one around the Detroit, Michigan area.

May God continue to bless you and your family,

Offended…yes, surprised…no. The science community is clearly troubled, they are using their last arrow. These darts are offensive words to discourage the saints. I watched one of your videos, and it answered most of my questions. It’s like 5 Sunday school classes packed in 1 hour, awesome experience! Don’t be discouraged Doc, keep up the good work.

    Hi Kent

When you are released i would love to see you debate or comment on Professor Brian Cox who is another one of those born and bread B.B.C. Evolutionists who is poisoning those who watch to him on television at the moment with his “Wonders of The Universe Series ! ”

I would love to see him debate you, but like most evolutionists, he would most probably be too scared to debate you sadly…
