The Welcome Home Party

We rejoice that Dad arrived safely home on July 9th! The Hovind Family had a Welcome Home Party for him on July 11th and because Dad is on Home Confinement until August 9, the party was held at the Creation Today ministry home. 
 
The Banner High Above the Street Said:
“Dr. Dino, WELCOME HOME!”
 
God sent over 500 people through out the day to welcome Dad home. So humbling!!!! Because of the venue’s limited space, we could only take 40 people at a time in to visit with him. Visitors received tickets for 30-minute slots which they received upon their arrival. We gave welcomers maps to the Creation Store only a mile away, where they could view the Genesis 3D Movie Trailer in 3D, and look at Dr. Hovind resources during their wait if they needed somewhere to go.
 
We gave each child a Super Rubber Band Bookmark which can be viewed on the Creation Today website. (http://creationtoday.org/product/super-scientific-rubber-band-launch/) Dr. Hovind demonstrated and signed these and a Super Paper Airplane  (http://creationtoday.org/product/preparing-to-soar-dino-super-airplane/)

 which some volunteers patiently made for the children all day. We gave the adults a sample of the “Dear God…Knee-Mail” Book One

 (http://creationtoday.org/product/dear-god-knee-mail-book-1-ebook-pdf/)with two of Dr. Hovind’s Knee-Mails while guests enjoyed cold, bottled water, and pre-packed chips and cookies. 

 
Groups came into the Gazebo as I, serving as Master of Ceremonies, thanked and welcomed guests asking what year they had heard about “Dr. Dino” and from where they had traveled to come. One couple came from the Philippines and one from South Africa! Seriously for this event! How humbling!
 
Dad talked with each group, and then took them in the backyard to demonstrate the launching of a Super Paper Airplane! Wow! Dad was in his element and didn’t miss a beat!
 
Every group filled to capacity except the very last group which had about 25! Wow! Thank you, God! We really didn’t know how many would actually come, and if they would be patient with the heat and wait, and not getting to spend all day with Dr. Dino. But people seemed very gracious. The probation office recommended that we copy an ID for everyone over 16, and have them sign a statement saying they were not a convicted felon, which we did. Sadly, we had to turn some away. One grown man that Dad had led to Christ in prison just cried; but understood when we explained that Dad can’t be with felons until his 3-year probation is over. We are carefully complying with all rules for his supervised release.
 
We were so humbled, and so grateful for the many sacrifices people made to give such encouragement to Dad. Our family was so humbled by your encouraging email notes, generous home-warming gifts, and your presence on Saturday. We know that Dad felt extremely valued and appreciated. 
 
Your patience with the small space, limited time, and the heat were also appreciated by all of us. Your prayers have been felt! Please continue praying as we enter a new chapter of our family’s life, and a new time of ministry for Dad. Right now, he is loving being GRANDPA again!

Coming Home

The Hovind Family would like to celebrate the homecoming of Kent Hovind with you. He will be released from federal prison on July 8th. We invite you to celebrate with us on Saturday, July 11th. The family will open the Creation Today ministry home at 29 Cummings Road, Pensacola, from 12 noon to 8:00 pm that day for friends and visitors to drop in and say hello. We wanted to remind everyone that the former Dinosaur Adventure Land Park was closed in 2009. We didn’t want your travel expectations to include doing activities in the former park.

During Dr. Hovind’s first month of release, he will be on Home Confinement and therefore, is not able to accept speaking engagements. Following this period, he will begin his five-year probation status and will only be able to travel outside the Northern District of Florida via court order.

Because Dr. Hovind has been away from his family for nearly nine years, we request that individuals wishing to visit with him further give him a few weeks to love on his family. More details regarding his availability and contact information will be posted in the near future. Thank you for praying for God to lead him as he plans his new ministry endeavors. When a new phone number and email are in place for him, we will post that contact information.

I just received the motion filed May 18, 2015 declaring Kent Hovind’s charges on Counts 1, 2 and 4 have been dismissed AND the Motion for Acquittal on Count 3 has been granted by Judge Rodgers. Can you feel my excitement!!!!

Charges Dropped by the Prosecution for the May 18, 2015 Trial

With the assistance of a pool of attorneys, a Motion was filed by Dr. Hovind’s Public Defender last week against the prosecution’s charges for the new trial that was to begin today, May 18, 2015. However, on Saturday night, May 16, 2015, the Prosecution filed a Motion to drop all three remaining charges. Therefore, there will be no new trial beginning May 18, 2015.
 
This does not necessarily mean that “it’s all over.” Because the prosecution dropped the charges with prejudice, they may be backing up and re-thinking other charges to seek a new indictment. But the drop of these charges is, indeed, good news.
 
Dr. Hovind still faces the one guilty charge from the 2015 March trial for “Contempt of Court.” However, a motion to acquit this charge has been given to the judge and is still under advisement.  Dr. Hovind will remain in custody at least until this motion is ruled on by the Judge. If that charge is not acquitted, then Dr. Hovind will be sentenced on June 12th, and the charge will be appealed to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. 
 
At this time, Dr. Hovind is still scheduled to be released in August of 2015. Please continue to pray according to Luke 6:28 and Matthew 5:44.

Re-Trial Begins May 18, 2015

For those who have prayed for Dr. Kent Hovind, we thank you.

To give you an update, Dr. Hovind was scheduled to be released in August of 2015 after serving 85% of his 10 year prison sentence. In 2014, new charges were brought against him. In March of 2015, after a two week trial, the jury could not reach a unanimous decision on three of the four charges brought against Dr. Hovind. He was found guilty on one charge of contempt of court.

Counts were as follows:
Count 1 Conspiracy to Commit Mail Fraud – Unable to come to a verdict
Count 2 Mail Fraud – Unable to come to a verdict
Count 3 Criminal Contempt of Court – Guilty
Count 4 Mail Fraud – Unable to come to a verdict

Because the jury did not come to a unanimous decision, the government has decided to retry the case. The new trial will begin on May 18th. We appreciate your prayers as this case moves forward.

The Verdict

This morning at 10:30 the Jury concluded their deliberation. Around 11:15 the verdict was read before the court.
Four counts were brought against Kent Hovind. Three counts of Mail Fraud and one count of Criminal Contempt of Court.
Count 1 Conspiracy to Commit Mail Fraud – Unable to come to a verdict
Count 2 Mail Fraud – Unable to come to a verdict
Count 3 Criminal Contempt of Court – Guilty
Count 4 Mail Fraud – Unable to come to a verdict
The Criminal Contempt of Court count contained two different charges. One charge was from a 2012 order and the other from a 2007 ruling from Judge Rodgers. Kent was not found guilty on the 2012 charge but was found guilty on the 2007 charge. This count was from the original 2007 case when Judge Rodgers forfeited Kent Hovind’s interest in the property. The order did not restrict Kent from presenting filings to question this decision; therefore, Kent’s attorney asked the Judge to rule that there were not enough facts presented to the jury to find Kent guilty of that verdict. The Judge said that she would take that under advisement.
Thomas Keith, Kent’s attorney said that in a Federal Case it is rare to see anything other than a guilty verdict. While he would still like the Judge to find that there was not enough evidence presented on the Contempt of Court charge and overturn the verdict, this is considered a huge success.
On the one guilty charge, if Judge Rodgers does not overturn it, there is no limit to the penalty that she can impose. Please pray that she would show leniency during the sentencing.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 12, 2015.
For those of you who would like to help, here are a few things you can do.
1. Pray:
– Kent’s Attorney is attempting to get Kent out of the county jail and back into a federal facility.
– That the Government will not continue to pursue the three counts that the Jury was unable to come to a verdict on.
– That the Gospel through the Creation Message would be spread with amazing effectiveness around the world.
2. Write a letter:
– If you would like to write a letter to the Judge on Kent’s behalf. The letter should be addressed to the Judge and could have some of the following…
Dear Judge Rodgers,
Why you are supportive of Kent Hovind
Why you think he has spent enough time in prison.
Why having Kent Hovind out of prison would be a blessing.
Positive Qualities you see in Kent Hovind.
There is no need to address the charges or what your thoughts are on the governments decision to prosecute Kent Hovind.

Inside the Courtroom

Forbes.com contributor Peter J Reilly has been following Dr. Kent Hovind’s case for some time now. Yesterday he added a post about the events and atmosphere in and around the courtroom in the first days of the trial.

Monday was devoted to jury selection with the government beginning to lay out its case yesterday.  Observers are not permitted to take notes.  (They are also not permitted to open their Bibles, further proof to the Hovindicators that Bush appointed district court judge Margaret Casey Rodgers is altogether a wicked Jezebel seeking to persecute Christians).  The evidence presented focused on the various filing by Paul John Hansen and included testimony from IRS administrative personnel and a Nebraska notary who witnessed numerous documents from Hansen.

The Trial Begins…

First, thank you so much for checking in on my dad. He has now been in prison for more than 8 years. During this time God has used him to lead over 500 men to Christ, allowed him to read over 1500 books, and to author several books on various topics.

For the past several years, we have been expecting to see Dad home around February of 2015. However, on October 24, 2014, the government handed down an indictment from a Grand Jury granting permission to prosecute both Kent Hovind and another gentleman for mail fraud. Dad is being represented by a public defender who said that these charges are unique in that typically mail fraud is used when someone defrauds another individual out of money. In this case, there was no money defrauded. Dad’s trial began Monday March 2nd, 2015. I’m told it should last about two weeks. While I cannot comment on an ongoing trial, I will post updates here once the trial is over.

As his son, I can speak for all the family in saying that we are ready for him to come home. His grandchildren are ready to see Grandpa again. He is not a threat to society, and can never repay any debt that is claimed to be owed while he is locked up in prison.

My hope is that the government would be reasonable and show leniency to my father considering the time he has already spent in prison.

Update on Dr. Hovind Trial

Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

It is sure comforting to know that God’s thoughts and ways are far above ours! No matter what happens in life, we can count on God’s promise that He is in control of everything! It is wise to keep that in mind when things do not seem to go our way.

Dr. Hovind’s trial has been postponed again. It is now scheduled for the week of March 2nd. While our families desire to have Dad / Grandpa back home, we trust that God’s timing is perfect and that He has a plan that we simply cannot understand at this time.

While we have no control over Dad’s current circumstances, our desire (and his) is still to see others come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ! “Redeem the time” and spread the Gospel through the Creation message. Update on Dr. Hovind Trial and Thank You

To those of you praying for my dad, THANK YOU. His trial has been rescheduled to begin on February 9th and I am told it will last for about one week.
While a lot of attention has been brought to his legal case, I know that it will be his desire to see others come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ that will always overshadow his current circumstance.
My Dad spent his life teaching others about the truth of Creation and the lies of Evolution in order to overcome one of the main hurdles destroying our culture and share the Gospel with others. His teachings are still among the most popular teachings regarding science and the Bible.
If you have never learned these truths, you should take the time to watch how Dr. Hovind was able to communicate a timeless message that is so timely today.
